There are more than 100 Civil War veterans buried in
Until the Day Dawn. In observation of the 150th anniversary of the start of
that terrible conflict, several of these old soldiers will “come to
life” as part of Heritage Days tours of the cemetery. Members of the
136th NY reenactment group will portray the Union veterans, talking in turn
about their wartime experiences as the tour group moves from one gravesite
to another. Visitors also will hear from Calvin Fairbank, the famed abolitionist
who lived his last years in Angelica. Fairbank served 17 years in Kentucky
prisons for his anti-slavery activities.
The cemetery tours are Saturday at 12:30 and 2:30 pm and on Sunday at 1:30
pm. Get tour tickets at the Booster Citizens tent in the park, the cost is
$5.00; transportation provided from park to cemetery
